Gene Grier

Gene Grier (1942–2009) was a nationally known composer, author, educator, and recording artist. Over 1,000 of his compositions have been published by some of the world's leading publishers. His works include children's musicals, cantatas, solos, piano collections, and textbooks. Gene was a twenty‑nine time winner of the prestigious ASCAP Popular Song Writing Award. In the last several years, eleven of his children's recordings have been nominated for a Grammy Award in the Children's Music Field.

Gene was President of EverGreen Morning Press and Birdsongs Unlimited, two of America's newest and highly regarded choral music publishing companies. He was active with the church and sung on a regular basis in the church's adult choir and the men's chorus.

After serving as Executive Vice President and General Manager of J.W. Pepper — Detroit, Gene toured as a soloist with The Norman Luboff Choir. Later, he became an Executive Editor for The Lorenz Corporation. Gene considered it a privilege to have his music published by Alfred Music Publishing Co.
