Michael E Akers

Michael Akers is a seasoned instrumental music educator, having held teaching positions on the middle school, high school and university levels. Currently he serves on the administrative staff of North Central High School, Indianapolis, Indiana. It was there during his tenure as director of bands that he consistently led his concert bands and jazz bands to achieve top state honors in competition.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree with an emphasis in trumpet performance from Indiana University, and a Master of Science Degree from Purdue University, where he also completed his secondary education administrative licensing.

In addition to being in demand as a guest conductor, adjudicator and trumpet player, he is active in many state and national music organizations as well as being a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP).

Mike and his wife Christi reside in Indianapolis with their two daughters, Elizabeth and Emma.
