Patti Drennan

Patti Drennan earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree at Oklahoma State University (OSU) and a Master of Music Education degree at the University of Oklahoma. She taught choral music for 28 years in Norman Public Schools, the first 20 at West Mid-High School, where she was voted Teacher of the Year and eight years at Norman High School. In 2004, she was awarded the coveted Director of Distinction Award given yearly by the Oklahoma Choral Directors Association. Patti has also been the recipient of the 2021 Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Honoree (2021), the OSU College of Arts and Sciences Distinguished Alumni Award for the Greenwood School of Music (2022), and the Maestro Award and William S. Roche for the Ambassadors Concert Choir.

An active composer and arranger, Patti has over 800 choral octavos, piano, and piano/vocal books published with thirteen major publishers. She has served as a clinician for school and church workshops in 23 states, three times in Canada, and has presented four sessions at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention. She has been guest director at numerous Composer Weekends and has adjudicated school choral contests in Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Kansas.

Patti retired from teaching in 2004 to compose and serve as a clinician and workshop presenter. She served for ten years as Music and Worship Arts Director at First Baptist Church, Norman and is currently Music Director at NorthHaven Baptist Church in Norman. She and her late husband have two grown children, son-in-law, and two beautiful grandsons! She also enjoys spending time teaching piano lessons and performing and recording with her daughter and son-in-law in numerous symphonic performances.
